different from bamboo fiber fabric and cotton fabric

Bamboo fiber and pure cotton are both very popular natural fabrics, each with its own advantages. Pure cotton is very familiar to us. Derived from cotton, it is a traditional natural fiber with mature production technology and extremely wide applications. There are two types of bamboo fiber. Raw bamboo fiber is extracted directly from bamboo through physical and mechanical methods. It has a harder texture, similar to linen, and is commonly used in carpets, mats, and other applications. The other type is bamboo pulp fiber (regenerated cellulose fiber), which is obtained by chemically dissolving bamboo into pulp and then regenerating it through a spinning process. This type of bamboo fiber fabric is commonly referred to as bamboo fiber. It has a soft feel, similar to Tencel or Modal.

Bamboo fiber has an exceptionally soft and smooth feel, with a velvet feel. It is very skin-friendly and extremely comfortable when worn next to the skin. Its cross-section is filled with gaps and pores of various sizes, making it highly breathable and highly absorbent. Like a natural cooling fabric, it quickly wicks away heat and moisture, making it exceptionally cool and breathable for summer wear or as bedding. Its moisture absorption is 1.5-2 times that of pure cotton, allowing it to quickly absorb sweat from the skin’s surface, keeping it dry and non-sticky. Bamboo fiber has relatively poor abrasion resistance and durability, especially when wet, as its strength weakens. It should be handled gently during washing and should not be wrung vigorously, as this can damage it. It also wrinkles easily and needs to be aired and conditioned promptly after washing. It drapes well, but its elastic recovery is average, and it can lose its shape after repeated wear. It is generally more expensive than regular cotton due to its more complex production process.

Pure cotton has a soft feel, but requires multiple washes or combing to achieve its optimal feel. High-quality, pure cotton is also comfortable, but its initial silkiness is generally not good. It is highly breathable and absorbs moisture well, which contributes to its popularity. However, after absorbing moisture, the fabric becomes damp and heavy, clinging to the skin and taking more time to dry. It is not inherently antibacterial. Wet cotton fibers are a breeding ground for bacteria and can easily develop odors if not cleaned promptly. The hollow structure of cotton fibers traps air, creating an insulating layer that provides enhanced warmth in autumn and winter. Cotton fibers are also strong, especially when wet, making them highly durable and washable, ensuring a long lifespan. Prices range widely, from affordable standard cotton to very high-end cotton.
